Borca was born from the vision of Augusto González Lázaro (Acebo, Cáceres, 1929 – Madrid, 2007). In his hometown in the Sierra de Gata, bobbin lace making was a craft passed down from generation to generation. His parents traveled through the villages of Cáceres and Toledo selling this lace, and as a child, Augusto frequently accompanied them.
In 1961, Augusto and his wife Consuelo moved to Madrid and opened a small shop on Gran Vía, where they sold embroideries from all over Spain: *mantillas* from Granada, tablecloths from Lagartera, bobbin lace, Canarian handicrafts, and Valencian fans.
Over time, both the family and the business grew. Borca was founded and permanently established at its current location—Calle Marqués Viudo de Pontejos, 2, in the heart of Madrid—where it remains today.
